Thank You!

Thank you for such a great start to the New Year!

In December the Pure Blue Fund generously offered to match year end contributions, and new and renewing memberships in Save The River.
Picture1 It is so nice to report that we met their challenge and exceeded it!
It means a super start to the New Year and for our continuing efforts to restore, preserve and protect the St. Lawrence by keeping crude oil, invasive species, microbeads and untreated sewage away from the River.
We can start 2016 buoyed by an outpouring of support for our work to promote healthy fisheries, thriving wildlife and wetlands habitat, and abundant clean water for swimming, fishing and drinking for generations to come.
The $8,000 pledged by the Pure Blue Fund was matched by over $13,000 from almost 100 contributions and memberships, many of them new from new members.

Once again we are moved by the community-based, grassroots support for a healthy St. Lawrence. And we are proud and humbled to be the voice of that support.

Of course, the issues (and the need for resources to address them) don’t stop. So if you missed the Pure Blue challenge, you can still support Save The River’s work by:

River Remembrance Day 2015

Thoughts from our members:

I miss the St. Lawrence River! – Jeff M. 11/2/15

We who stay here all year long are the most fortunate. To experience the River during all seasons is a gift. – Lauran & Dan T. 11/2/15

What a splendid way to honor the River. – Carol G. 11/2/15

No deep thoughts. We just plain old miss the River. -Phil & Kate P. 10/26/15

We are Long Island residents who found ourselves in Clayton about 5 or 6 years and enjoyed the River for several lovely summer days. On another car trip we drove halfway out on the Cape’s peninsula before heading to visit friends in New Brunswick- again, some enjoyable River experiences. It’s worth preserving! – Valerie G. 10/26/15

2015 River Remembrance Day Non-Gala

Dear Friend of the St. Lawrence River,
Jim Magnes
Save The River
invites you to its
River Remembrance Day 2015
Non-Gala
Saturday evening, the seventh of November there will be no dinner, no dancing,
no big-name entertainment.

Instead, we invite you to enjoy a quiet evening at home,
wherever that may be this time of year,
reflecting on the natural beauty of the St. Lawrence River, and
we offer you the opportunity to join us in a River Illumination Ceremony.

Light a candle on your dock, deck, lawn, or living room
at nine p.m.
to show your love for the River
and your solidarity with all of us who love it too.

History
The illumination ceremony is a river tradition first practiced around the turn of the nineteenth century, again on River Appreciation Day in the 70’s, and as recently as 2013. As Save The River closes another year of vigorous advocacy on behalf of the St. Lawrence River, we invite you to join us in a celebration of the spirit of the River. The point is to remind us that we are not alone, and that if we act as a group we can protect the place we love. We’re here because of the unique way the River touches each one of us. We are joined together by a desire to preserve it so future generations can experience that magic for themselves. Let’s celebrate that magic together wherever we are on November 7th.

Click Here for a reply and donation card. We will post your thoughts about the River on our website and on our Facebook page.

Your tax deductible donation will go directly towards saving the River.

We thank you for your help.

Never doubt that a group of
thoughtful, committed people can
change the world, indeed, it is the

only thing that ever has.”

Margaret Mead

SAFETY FIRST!
If you leave your candles unattended please place them in a stable glass jar with sand in the bottom.
